Shia LaBeouf to Star in Andrea Arnold's First U.S. Feature, 'American Honey'

Accomplished director Andrea Arnold has been developing her first U.S. feature, American Honey, since it was first announced in 2013. While the Fish Tank and Wuthering Heights director firmed up those plans last year, nothing had been heard about it until now with the announcement that Shia LaBeouf will be taking the lead role.

Penned by Arnold, the film was originally to center on a runaway teenage girl who joins a traveling magazine sales crew and gets caught up in a whirlwind of hard-partying, law-bending and young love." So has the role been flipped to that of a young man? Or is there still a female lead role yet to be cast?

Whatever the case, a new feature by Arnold is tremendously exciting. With LaBeouf now set, maybe Arnold will use her gift for finding new talent in filling out the rest of the cast. Perhaps she can lure Katie Jarvis out of retirement? [Variety]
