So Much for Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's Lifetime Movie 'A Deadly Adoption'
So I didn't get a chance to post the news from April Fool's Day that Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig had filmed a top secret Lifetime Channel movie. And no, it wasn't a joke, it was very much real. The film has a campy title the likes of which the network is known for, A Deadly Adoption, who have things go terribly wrong as they look after a young pregnant woman whose baby they plan to adopt. Sounds totally ridiculous and the kind of thing we'd expect Ferrell and Wiig to mock on SNL. It's totally like the kind of thing they spoofed on The Spoils of Babylon. The hope was for it to air this summer, but it looks like those plans are off.
Here's what Ferrell had to say according to Deadline...
“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public. Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forgo the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”
So was this like some kind of extended prank or something? The film would have been written by The Spoils of Babylon's Andrew Steele, directed by Rachel Lee Goldberg, and co-star Jessica Lowndes of 90210.
