The Battle Begins in New 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Clip; Writers Found for 'Captain Marvel'

Tonight Marvel held the big red carpet premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron (which you can watch here), but what would an opening of that magnitude be without some brand new footage? Marvel has revealed a new clip from the film that features a showdown between the Avengers, Ultron, and his allies Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

The scene shows that Ultron holds a clear disdain for his creator, but at least he's smart enough not to stand around revealing his evil plan. We do learn that it involves the rare metal Vibranium, which can only be found in Wakanda, home of the Black Panther. Is that how the Panther gets introduced? When Ultron arrives to steal the precious metal? We'll find out when the film hits in just a few weeks on May 1st.

Speaking of future Avengers, the hero Captain Marvel may not be turning up in the film as many thought, but her solo movie is taking a big step forward. THR reports that Guardians of the Galaxy writer Nicole Perlman (my interview with her is here) and Meg LeFauve of Pixar's Inside Out are in talks to script the film. They've never written together before but given their past credentials it's no wonder Marvel sees them as a potentially great team. Captain Marvel still has no director or star, but has a July 6th 2018 release date.
