There's a 'Galaxy Quest' TV Series On the Way

Of course Galaxy Quest, the cult favorite Star Trek-spoofing comedy starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Allen Rickman, and Sam Rockwell, would become a TV series. What took you so long, Hollywood? Variety reports Paramount is "shopping" a series based on the 1999 film helmed by Dean Parisot.

Parisot is returning to work on the series, reuniting with co-writer Robert Gordon and exec-producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein. The film, and presumably the show, would follow the cast of a cherished '70s sci-fi series who are drawn into a real intergalactic conflict by an alien race that think their TV adventures are real.

Most of the original cast were pretty big at the time but those who weren't, such as Sam Rockwell, have gone on to more prominent films. Allen would probably be the most likely to return if any of them would, but he's currently starring on the ABC sitcom, Last Man Standing.  Then again this is all very early on his situation may have changed by the time production would begin.
