Gwendoline Christie's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Role Confirmed in New Image

When Game of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie was confirmed for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, one might have thought she'd be a lightsaber-wielding Jedi given her history as the sword-swinging Brienne on the HBO series. But then a rumor surfaced she'd be playing someone named Captain Phasma and likely a high ranking soldier in the Imperial army. That rumor has now turned out to be true thanks to Vanity Fair's recent Star Wars issue.

The first image of Christie as "First Order officer" Captain Phasma shows her in a chrome stormtrooper suit, surveying the damage after an attack. The character was seen briefly in the second trailer and many suspected it was Christie's character.

So that's another character down. With so many photos being released today maybe we'll see Domhnall Gleeson's mystery character (possibly the son of Luke Skywalker) before long? [starwars-universe]
