Is it possible this whole Fantastic Four experience has soured Josh Trank on blockbusters? The production was plagued with stories of creative troubles and other issues, and those reports took on added weight when Trank was fired from his Star Wars standalone film, largely on the word of producer Simon Kinberg. Over the weekend, a new rumor surfaced through Superhero News and CBM that Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn was called in to do reshoots back in April. Trank, obviously pissed at seeing this story spread around, quickly hit Twitter to throw cold water on the whole thing...
@Josh_Wilding Hey Josh, not true. While MV has been very supportive, he's never been to our set. There's only been 1 director of FF2015. Me.

@SuperheroNewsCB Definitely not true. I haven't even met MV in person, and there were no such test screenings.

Next time you read an article, whether it's Hollywood Reporter or SuperheroNews, if they aren't naming sources: it's probably bullshit.

There's probably a middle ground to be found on this whole thing. Obviously, Fantastic Four has been a trying production for everybody, particularly Trank, and it sounds like Kinberg took more of a leadership role towards the end. But did it go so far as to bring in a guy like Vaughn to actually wrap things up? That seems like a stretch, and with the film not arriving until August 7th we may not learn anything solid for quite some time.
