Saoirse Ronan, Kate Upton, Dakota Fanning and More Eye Roles in Harry Potter Prequel 'Fantastic Beasts'
Obviously, Warner Bros. isn't going to screw around with their Harry Potter franchise. While the main group of films are long over, the story continues, or shall we see begins, with the upcoming prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Not only is J.K. Rowling herself adapting this new trilogy, but Harry Potter vet David Yates is at the helm and Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne is starring. Now we're seeing a huge group of high-profile contenders being considered to co-star.
The story is set in New York 70 years before the birth of Harry Potter, and follows magizoologist Newt Scamander, a professor in the study of magical creatures. Up for the role of Newt's wife Tina ("Porpentina") are Saoirse Ronan, Dakota Fanning, Lili Simmons (Banshee), and Alison Sudol (Dig), while Kate Upton, Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), and Elizabeth Debicki are up for the role of Tina's sister, Queenie. As for the role of Newt's rival, Jacob, the contenders are Steve Zissis (HBO's Togetherness), Dan Fogler (Take Me Home Tonight), and Zack Pearlman (The Virginity Hit).
It's always possible somebody not on this list will these parts, so we'll just have to wait and see. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens on November 18th 2016. [TheWrap/Variety]
