First Trailer for Denis Villeneuve's Drug War Thriller 'Sicario' with Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Benicio Del Toro
While Denis Villeneuve's recent films, Prisoners and Enemy, were widely praised both for their technical merit and the performances within, one they weren't is accessible. Both were incredibly dark, downright morose thrillers and that likely kept some people away. But Villeneuve is going in a slightly different direction with his latest film, Sicario, offering a crime thriller that appears to explore the same moral grey areas but in a way that could attract bigger audiences.
Starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin, the story centers on an idealistic FBI agent who teams with a pair of Delta Force agents to stop a brutal drug lord in Mexico. The first trailer here shows off the beautiful Roger Deakins cinematography, and Taylor Sheridan's script seems to have some edge to it.
Sicario debuted at Cannes to strong reviews, and could make some waves during the fall awards season. Really looking forward to this one. Look for the film to hit theaters on September 18th.
