With merchandising such a large part of every studio franchise it's opened up a whole new information source for eagle-eyed news hounds. Toys, promos, and even clothing offer hints as to who will appear in upcoming movies, and that seems to be what has happened with Hugh Jackman's rumored role in X-Men: Apocalypse. After once stating he would definitely be in the '80s-set film, Jackman has been a bit shaky on that point lately, especially after revealing The Wolverine 3 would be his final appearance in the franchise.
But now Heroic Hollywood has noticed this Instagram image from Brooklyn company Kika NY, stating they were hired to design something specifically for Jackman's role in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is filming now...
Given how things ended for Wolverine in X-Men: Days of Future Past, getting fished out of the water by Mystique and still without his vaunted adamantium skeleton, that storyline really needed to be wrapped up. So maybe he'll make a cameo of some kind to help tie things up and set the stage for his final standalone Wolverine film.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27th 2016 directed by Bryan Singer, who will probably post a photo of Jackman on set soon.
