Jackie Chan and John Cusack Battle the Roman Army in Trailer for 'Dragon Blade'

Putting together Jackie Chan, Adrien Brody, and John Cusack in a historical epic involving Roman centurions and Chinese soldiers sounds like a film destined for the $5 DVD bin at Wal-Mart. And maybe that will ultimately be the case, but the reality now is that Dragon Blade is a $120M hit in China, so maybe the U.S. has something to look forward to when the film arrives this fall.

A new trailer for the film has arrived and while it definitely looks a little cheesy, there's no denying the impressive scale of it. That should come as no surprise given the direction by Daniel Lee (Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon), who has a knack for massive productions. Here's the synopsis:

When corrupt Roman leader Tiberius (Adrien Brody) arrives with a giant army to claim the Silk Road, Huo An (Jackie Chan) and his group of trained warriors teams up with an elite legion of defected Roman soldiers led by General Lucius (John Cusack) to maintain the delicate balance of power in the region. To protect his country and his new friends, Huo An gathers the warriors of thirty-six ethnic nations together to fight Tiberius in an incredible epic battle.

Dragon Blade opens on September 4th, both in theaters and on VOD.
