Justin Kurzel Heads to 'Haven'; R.J. Cutler to Direct James Ellroy Memoir 'My Dark Places'

Macbeth and upcoming Assassin's Creed director Justin Kurzel has found a safe place in Haven. He'll direct the psychological thriller based on a screenplay by his usual collaborator, Michael Lesslie. Details are few but the story is expected to take place in a mental hospital. Perhaps he'll be able to snag Michael Fassbender for this one, too? [Deadline]

If I Stay director R.J. Cutler has signed on to write and direct an adaptation of My Dark Places, based on the memoir by L.A. Confidential author James Ellroy. The book centered Ellroy's attempt in 1994 to re-investigate the 1958 murder of his mother. Cutler has also directed documentaries like The September Issue and The World According to Dick Cheney, but this one will apparently be a narrative film. [Deadline]
