While real-time thrillers have been shown to work on the small screen with 24, they've also made for some great feature films. Run Lola Run, United 93, Russian Ark, and Locke are just a few examples of real-time being used to tremendous effect. And now you can add one more with Live!, which just cast Aaron Eckhart as its star.
According to Deadline, Eckhart will take the lead in the real-time action flick from stunt coordinators-turned directors Darrin Prescott and Wade Allen (John Wick), working from a screenplay by Jeremy Drysdale. Eckhart plays "disgraced cop Kyle Penny on his hunt to rescue the police commissioner’s kidnapped daughter, trapped somewhere in the city with only 80 minutes to live. With a deranged killer on his heels, Penny’s only hope is teaming with an ambitious young online reporter who films the wild chase live.
So it's kind like 24 meets Nightcrawler? Sounds good, and with filming to begin in October we should hear more about the rest of the cast soon. Eckhart will be seen next in action sequel London has Fallen, which was recently bumped to January 2016.
