Tig Notaro Finds Humor in Personal Struggle in the Trailer for Netflix's 'Tig'
While we have all been blown away by Netflix's aggressive moves in the arena of feature films, they have actually gone stronger when it comes to documentaries. Why, earlier this year their documentary Virunga earned an Oscar nomination, and just days ago they released the terrific doc, What Happened Miss Simone?, which impressed me greatly at Sundance. Next month sees the release of another doc that is sure to move people, and perhaps introduce a whole new audience to the greatness that is Tig Notaro.
Tig follows the popular stand-up comedian best known for her keen observational style and appearances on The Sarah Silverman Program, Conan, and Lake Bell's In a World. But it was in 2012 that she made headlines by revealing on stage that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, an announcement that would change the lives of everyone there to experience it first-hand and even those who would hear it later. The film goes into Notaro's personal struggle, and how she was able use those painful experiences to connect with audiences through comedy.
Tig will be available to stream on Netflix starting July 17th.
