William Hurt Says Get Ready for a "Much Different" Thunderbolt Ross in 'Captain America: Civil War'
Captain America: Civil War is so big, they might as well call it Avengers 3. The superhero flick is basically a giant all-star jam of nearly every Avenger that has graced the screen, plus some who haven't. Not only will we get the Avengers, but Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), a mystery character played by Martin Freeman, and the return of William Hurt as Hulk nemesis General Thunderbolt Ross. The character hasn't been seen since 2008's The Incredible Hulk, and Hurt promises this time Ross is going to be a little different. He tells IGN...
“I loved playing Ross the first time because I was able to try and create an ego as big as the monster he was chasing. And one that was as warped too. [Ross in Civil War] is different because it’s a different style. It’s a more modernized style. And what they’ve done is they’ve taken a character who was the Ross from the older film and made a new version. This is a much newer Ross. A much different Ross. And I liked that a lot. I haven’t had a lot of time to understand it, but I’m doing the best I can. And they haven’t fired me yet.”
So what does that mean, exactly? Given recent rumors about the possible debut of the Red Hulk, could that be what Hurt is referring to? Only time will tell, but he deflected the question recently when asked about it by the Wall Street Journal.
Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th 2016.
