Dan Akroyd will Cameo in Paul Feig's 'Ghostbusters'

Dan Akroyd may not have been able to gather the original gang for a Ghostbusters 3, but he's been a vocal supporter of Paul Feig's reboot. So it's no surprise that he'll have some part to play in front of the camera, even if it's just a small cameo. But will it be as Ray Stanz as fans hope?

Filming on Ghostbusters is going on now, and Akroyd tweeted (then deleted) last night that he was on set shooting a small scene...

“On GB set shooting my scene with funny beautiful Kristen Wiig Lady GB’s are adorable, hilarious and badass Exhilarating!”

Akroyd quickly took the tweet down, but Indie Revolver say they've got the goods on what the veteran actor and co-writer of the first two movies is doing. They say he's playing a cab driver who has an encounter with Kristen Wiig's character...

"Aykroyd throws out the iconic line, “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts.” And drives away with Wiig yelling something along the lines of “That’s a double negative! That means you are afraid of ghosts!”

Could it be that Stanz has fallen on hard times? Who knows? And if Akroyd is involved is there some hope for Ernie Hudson to appear? Or maybe even Bill Murray? Probably not, but one never knows. Starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, and Neil Casey, Ghostbusters opens July 22nd 2016.
