Dwayne Johnson's 'Baywatch' Film to be directed by Seth Gordon
In the works for years, a big screen version of the inexplicably beloved Baywatch got a jolt when Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announced he'd be a part of it. That was nearly a year ago, however, and it seemed as if the project had hit the surf just as it had many times before. But now the film is officially back on with news that Seth Gordon has come on board to direct.
Gordon, who directed the excellent video game documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, plus hit R-rated comedies Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief, has entered talks to be the one to finally make the Baywatch movie happen. He's not a surprising choice given that the plan is to do a comedic take on the beachside series, although roles for original stars like David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson are in the cards.
While a number of writers have been attached the latest script was written by Damian Shannon & Mark Swift, who wrote the remake of Friday the 13th. Make of that what you will. [Variety]
