Now may be a good time to dump some cold water on any expectations for a Ghostbusters spinoff with Channing Tatum, Chris Pratt, and the Russo Brothers. While both actors have either denied the project's existence or claimed it to be dead, writer Drew Pearce said that something is definitely in the works that could star them...maybe. Now producer Ivan Reitman has jumped in to set the record straight, and according to what he told Uproxx there is only one Ghostbusters film to be concerned with right now.
“There has been a lot of excitement recently about what is happening with the 'Ghostbusters' franchise. As the producer of the new 'Ghostbusters' film, I feel the need to clarify. There is only one new 'Ghostbusters' movie and that is the Paul Feig directed version coming next July, presently filming and going fantastically. The rest is just noise."
What it sounds like is that the Ghostbusters film Pearce wrote his "bible" for is in the earliest of stages; way too soon for it to be considered anything more than a distant possibility. It may all depend on how Feig's film does when it opens in July of next year.
