Johnny Depp May Replace Hugh Jackman in 'Collateral Beauty'
With filming on The Wolverine 3 (possibly "Old Man Logan) set to being soon, Hugh Jackman is finding his schedule getting a bit cramped. A couple of months ago he agreed to star with Rooney Mara in Collateral Beauty, the next film from Me and Earl and the Dying Girl director, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. While the pairing of those three had a ton of promise, Jackman is being forced to drop out, but another big name may be stepping in.
According to Deadline, Johnny Depp is being sought to replace Jackman in the film penned by Allan Loeb. The story centers on a New York advertising executive who suffers a tragedy and finds his life slipping into a deep, dark depression with only an unconventional way out of it. Jason Segel recently joined the indie drama in a supporting role.
Depp hasn't performed so well in his less-flashy roles, but working alongside Mara, Segel, and Gomez-Rejon could help change that. With filming set to begin this fall an answer should be coming soon.
