Trailer for Teen Horror 'The Curse of Downers Grove' Written by Bret Easton Ellis

Making his breakout feature with the indie dramedy, Lymelife, filmmaker Derek Martini has always had a knack for attracting A-list stars. His follow-up film, the white trash thriller-comedy Hick starred Chloe Moretz, Eddie Redmayne, and Blake Lively, but was hit with a wave of negative reviews. So while his career has been somewhat mixed at this point, there's one reason to get very excited about his upcoming horror, The Curse of Downers Grove, and that reason is controversial screenwriter/author Bret Easton Ellis.

Ellis, who wrote The Rules of Attraction, Less than Zero, American Psycho, and other looks at the ugly side of wealth, youth, and fame, penned the screenplay for Martini to direct. The film stars Bella Heathcote, Lucas Till, Helen Slater, Kevin Zegers, and Tom Arnold, and the trailer looks like a fairly traditional teen slasher flick. But when was the last time Ellis did anything conventional? Expect something more, for sure.

The Curse of Downers Grove hits theaters and ITunes on August 21st.
