Unlike in Mia Hansen-Love's period DJ drama Eden, or other classic films about those who "speak with their hands", there's scarcely a single wheel of steel being spun in We are your Friends. The world of DJing isn't what it used to be, giving way to a generation rockin' crowds with the push of a few buttons on their IPhones. While DJing may have changed, that need to dance to the beat of one's own drum remains universal.
The new trailer for We are your Friends stars Zac Efron as a young up and coming DJ trying to find his own voice in a cutthroat industry. To do it he hooks up with a bitter ex-DJ (Wes Bentley), but also bonds with his sexy girlfriend, played by Gone Girl's Emily Ratajkowski. And so Efron spins a few tracks and gets the people movin' in hopes of securing a brighter future for himself.
Directed by Max Joseph (Catfish: The Series) and co-starring Jonny Weston, Jon Bernthal, Shiloh Fernandez, and Alex Shaffer, We are your Friends opens August 28th.
