Bill Murray Will Have A Role In Paul Feig's 'Ghostbusters' Reboot
Perhaps the main thing to take away from today's news that Bill Murray is showing up in Paul Feig's Ghostbusters movie is that the famously fickle actor was really only against the idea of a Ghostbusters 3. But an all new version with totally different characters? Well that he is totally game for.
Photos recently emerged showing Murray's arrival in Boston where Feig's Ghostbusters is shooting, and now THR has confirmed he will be in the film. Will he be reprising his role as Peter Venkman? Probably not, as Murray long fought a reunion of the original cast that included Dan Akroyd, the late Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson. Instead of trying to move forward on that plan, Akroyd and producer Ivan Reitman turned to Feig to reboot the franchise with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon as the new Ghostbusters.
Murray joins Akroyd as the second original Ghostbuster who will definitely have a role, while nothing has been confirmed about Hudson yet. Chances are he'll show up somewhere.
Ghostbusters has been pushed up a week and now opens July 15th 2016.
