Fox is bringing back 'Prison Break' as a 10-Episode Series
If David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are forever linked for their time on The X-Files, the same can be said of Prison Break's Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell. The hit Fox series ended its four-season run six years ago with a straight-to-DVD finale that appeared to wrap up their sibling characters' story. Since then Miller and Purcell have been inseparable, starring as the villainous duo of Captain Cold and Heat Wave on CW's The Flash. While they are set to move over to DC's Legends of Tomorrow, they'll soon be coming home again as Prison Break is back.
Fox made the announcement during their Television Critics Association panel that Prison Break would be returning as a 10-episode event series, similar to the revival of The X-Files and 24: Live Another Day. Purcell and Miller will be back in their familiar roles of brothers Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, despite what appeared to be the latter's tragic end in the series finale. Fox Chairman Dana Walden promises series creator Paul Scheuring has a plan for explaining what happened...
“I would describe it as a bit of a sequel....It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. It definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series and for a new audience....“He’s not going to disregard it. You will get a satisfying answer to why these characters are still alive… I don’t think he’s going to completely ignore what happened in that episode, but what he pitched to us was a very logical and believable explanation in the world of ‘Prison Break’ for why are character’s alive and still moving around the world.”
This one's still in the early development stages so it could be awhile, but Prison Break fans can finally rejoice that their favorite convicts are back behind bars.
