Hailee Steinfeld to star in John Hughes-esque Teen Drama; Emory Cohen joins Brad Pitt in 'War Machine'
Coming out of Barely Lethal, a John Hughes-style teen comedy about a junior assassin, Hailee Steinfeld is set to star in another film inspired by Hughes. She'll star in a coming-of-age drama formerly titled Besties, and produced by James L. Brooks (As Good as it Gets). Kelly Fremon Craig wrote the script and will make her directorial debut on the film which centers on two high school girls whose friendship is tested when one begins secretly dating the other's older brother. The busy year for Steinfeld continues as she'll be seen in the action flick Term Life, opposite Vince Vaughn. She also was a new addition to Pitch Perfect 2 and is expected to return for the sequel. Emory Cohen (The Place Beyond the Pines) has joined Brad Pitt in War Machine, the upcoming Netflix film that takes a satirical look at the rise and fall of General Stanley McChrystal, the commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan. David Michod (The Rover) will write and direct the dark comedy based on Michael Hastings' book, The Operators: The Wild And Terrifying Inside Story Of America’s War In Afghanistan. Cohen will play a member of McChrystal's squad.
