Uh, that Fantastic Four movie coming out this weekend? It's getting crapped on pretty hard. Currently it sits at 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I was part of helping it dip to such an embarrassingly low number. The film has been the subject of multiple stories about problems on set with director Josh Trank, and some of the conflict he may have had with producer/writer Simon Kinberg and others. So there has been this expectation that if the film failed there would be a lot of finger pointing and excuses. Well, Trank isn't wasting any time because he's already tap dancing away from his film like an extra on Fame.
Earlier today Trank passed all of the blame for the film on...well, anybody but himself.
The tweet was deleted with the quickness but this is the Internet and that shit lasts forever. Eventually people will figure that out. Anyway, this isn't going to do much to make Trank's case that he wasn't the source of the personality conflicts during the production, and maybe this is exactly why Lucasfilm canned him from the Star Wars spinoff he was working on.
As it stands, Fantastic Four could still end up being a box office success despite the terrible reviews. We'll have to wait and find out. You can check out my review of the film here.
