Lea Seydoux, Rebecca Ferguson, and Abbey Lee up for 'Gambit' Female Lead

As I predicted here just days ago, 20th Century Fox' Gambit film will feature the mutant thief's wife, Bella Donna Boudreaux. As it became obvious the film would be an origin story for Gambit, aka Remy Lebeau, Bella Donna became an obvious choice for a female lead character, and a number of actresses are lining up to star as her opposite Channing Tatum.

According to Deadline, the previously-rumored Lea Seydoux (Blue is the Warmest Color) is up for the female lead, along with Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol breakout Rebecca Ferguson and Mad Max: Fury Road's Abbey Lee Kershaw.  Bella Donna is the daughter of a high-ranking member of the New Orleans Assassins Guild, which stands opposed to the Thieves Guild that Gambit's family is a part of. Gambit and Bella Donna were young lovers, and married to bring the two guilds together, only for a tragic event to occur that forced Gambit into exile. Bella Donna would re-emerge later as an enemy with her own mutant powers to control plasma energy.

After the display she put on in MI5 my money is on Ferguson.

Directed by Rupert Wyatt, Gambit opens October 7th 2016.
