Keith Stanfield to star in Untitled Prison Drama; Jenn Murray joins 'Fantastic Beasts'; Kellan Lutz boards 'SFv1'

Keith Stanfield continues to make the most of his breakthrough role in Short Term 12 a couple of years ago. He's appeared in everything from Selma to The Purge: Anarchy to Don Cheadle's Miles Ahead, and now he's lined up a timely new drama on this country's unjust prison system. Stanfield will star in an untitled based on the real-life story of Colin Warner, an 18-year-old man in 1980s Brooklyn who spent 20 years in prison convicted of a murder he didn't commit. Ex-NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha co-stars as his best friend who tirelessly worked to clear his name, helping to get Warner released from prison in 2001. Matt Ruskin wrote and directed the film which begins shooting next month.

Irish actress Jenn Murray (Brooklyn) has lined up a key role in Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film takes place 70 years before the boy wizard's birth and follows magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he explores the world documenting magical creatures. Murray will mostly share screen time with Ezra Miller, who plays Scamander's nemesis. Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, and Alison Sudol co-star with David Yates directing from a JK Rowling script. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens November 18th 2016. Kellan Lutz (Twilight) and Daniel McPherson (Infini) are set to lead the Aussie sci-fi flick, SFv1, joined by co-stars Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under), Bren Foster, and Temuera Morrison who played Jango Fett in the Star Wars prequels.  Shane Abbess wrote and directed the futuristic film about a drifter who joins with a military contractor to save the latter's daughter amid an impending global crisis.
