Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson will Save Some Lives in the 'Baywatch' Movie
In one of the funniest lines of last year's comedy, Neighbors, Seth Rogen remarks that Zac Efron "looks like something a gay guy designed in a laboratory". Clearly, Efron doesn't mind having a little fun with his public persona as a heartthrob to men and women alike, and those who see him as eye candy will likely delight at today's news. According to THR, Efron is set to join Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the upcoming Baywatch movie, meaning people will be throwing themselves into the ocean in hopes of getting saved.
This version of Baywatch will be a comedic take on the hit '90s TV series, so expect plenty of opportunities for Efron and Johnson to flex their muscles while sporting the classic red Baywatch lifeguard shorts. It's also a chance to Efron to flex his comedic muscles, as well, which he has been doing more frequently of late. Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) will be directing based on a screenplay that has been rewritten multiple times, but was most recently penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote the Friday the 13th remake.
Efron has a number of comedies on the way including a Neighbors sequel, Dirty Grandpa opposite Robert De Niro, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates alongside Anna Kendrick. Next up for him is the DJ drama, We are your Friends, opening later this month.
