There hasn't been a ton of casting on Wonder Woman outside of Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, but with filming set to begin this fall that is about to change. According to the rumor merchants at Heroic Hollywood, Sean Bean and Eva Green, two fan favorite actors, are up to play villains taking on the Amazonian princess.
According to the report, Bean and Green (that sounds like a musical act) would be playing two of Wonder Woman's fiercest foes who are also based largely in Greek mythology. Bean would be playing Ares the god of war, while Green would be the sorceress, Circe. It's easy to see why Warner Bros. would want them both for these specific characters. Bean starred in the studio's historical epic, Troy, in the role of Odysseus, who ironically encountered Circe on his return home from the Trojan War. The studio is familiar with Green from Zack Snyder's 300: Rise of an Empire, in which she commanded legions and went toe-to-toe with Spartan warriors like a total boss.
Neither has been signed and it's unclear if offers have been made, but these are definitely choices that will make comic book fans happy. Patty Jenkins is directing Wonder Woman for release on June 23rd 2017.
