There's no question that Francis Lawrence and Jennifer Lawrence, no relation, have found a ton of success with one another, on an even larger scale than she he's had with David O. Russell. That's because they've been working together on The Hunger Games franchise, which wraps up later this year with Mockingjay's final chapter. And that association is one they may be keen on continuing, not on more Hunger Games movies, but with the director's adaptation of Red Sparrow.
A couple of months ago Francis Lawrence began eyeing the project which had Darren Aronofsky and David Fincher attached at different times. Now Deadline reports Jennifer Lawrence is looking to join him in the film based on Jason Matthews' espionage novel set in contemporary Russia. She would play Dominika Egorova, a Russian operative who becomes a "Sparrow", trained in the art of "sexpionage"who uses her talents to seduce a young CIA officer, only for them to fall in love and put their lives and respective agencies in danger. Eric Warren (American Hustle) wrote the initial draft but Justin Haythe is being brought in to give it another go.
The site notes a deal could be a ways off, but obviously a reunion of the Lawrences has a ton of potential.
