Robert Redford and Jane Fonda Reunite for Netflix's 'Our Souls at Night'
Robert Redford and Jane Fonda are both at TIFF helping to promote their latest projects, but it appears they slowed down long enough to sign up for one more. According to Deadline, the Hollywood legends are in talks to star in Our Souls at Night, another big film acquisition for Netflix.
Redford and Fonda starred together in 1967’s Barefoot in the Park and 1979’s The Electric Horseman but haven't worked together since, and frankly it's about time they reunite. The film would be an adaptation of Kent Haruf's novel about two small town widowers living all alone in big empty houses, so they seek to forge a romantic connection. The screenplay will be written by Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter, best known for younger-skewing romances The Fault In Our Stars, The Spectacular Now, and (500) Days of Summer.
Netflix already has a busy TIFF with Cary Fukunaga's Beasts of No Nation premiering at the festival. Redford is on hand to promote Truth, in which he plays Dan Rather, while Jane Fonda is there in support of Paolo Sorrentino's Youth.
