'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' May Feature a Post-Credits Scene

It's been a decade since the last new Star Wars movie, and in that time the nature of Hollywood franchises has changed. Like it or not, the Marvel model has taken hold and that means there must be synergy across the board. One way Marvel and Disney have done this is through post-credit scenes linking their various franchises together, and it sounds like that approach could be making its way to Star Wars, too.

Rumors over at Heroic Hollywood and Schmoes Know (I don't know which outlet I trust less, but combined this is at least 70% reliable) claim that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will feature a post-credits clip and teaser for Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It's currently shooting and Edwards could easily put something together in time for the release of J.J. Abrams' film in a few months. The traditionalists may hate this but the simply truth is that this is how blockbusters are pushed nowadays, and younger fans of Star Wars are probably expecting it, anyway.

We'll see what happens when Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18th.
