'Assassin's Creed' Cast Grows as Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson Join

The cast of Assassin's Creed is so good it doesn't seem like it could possibly be for a video game movie. Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Michael K. Williams, and Ariane Labed are already on board the adaptation of the best-selling stealth game, and now the lineup gets better with the additions of Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson.

Deadline reports that Irons will play Cotillard's father, while Gleeson will play Fassbender's. Justin Kurzel (Hamlet) is directing the film which will have Fassbender as new character Callum Lynch. Here's the synopsis:

Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.

Assassin's Creed opens December 21st 2016. Irons will be seen next as Alfred in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Gleeson has a role in Suffragette alongside Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep.
