Get Ready for At Least 10 More Years of 'Transformers' Movies
Much has already been made about Paramount's Transformers "Writer's Room", a collective of Hollywood talents designed to extend the scope of the franchise. So far they've already set in motion Transformers 5, which Michael Bay is in talks to direct despite claims that the last two movies would be his last. There will also be an animated prequel of some kind set on the Transformers planet of Cybertron. But plans for the future of Optimus Prime and his Autobots go well beyond that, so get ready for at least another decade of Transformers movies.
Hasbro exec Stephen J. Davis revealed that the next 10 years worth of Transformers films have been plotted out, making for at least four sequels. That's right, get ready for Transformers 8...
“We decided we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise, and so we got together in a room over a three month period of time. Nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with, shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for ‘A Beautiful Mind’ and written a bunch of really great movies, they plotted out the next 10 years of Transformers…Transformers 5 is on the way. And 6 and 7 and 8.“
Davis is probably underselling this a little bit, because it's doubtful the Cybertron film counts as part of this number. You can bet there will be other Transformers spinoffs, as well.
Mark Wahlberg is confirmed to return for Transformers 5, the second chapter in a brand new trilogy. That film is expected to arrive some time in 2017 but right now nothing is confirmed. [Transformers World]
