Jennifer Lawrence Eyes Darren Aronofsky's Next Film, Exits 'The Rosie Project'

Now that her commitments to the X-Men and Hunger Games franchises are up, Jennifer Lawrence is being more selective about the films she's attached to. Just days ago she dropped out of one high-profile project, The Glass Castle, which is to be directed by Short Term 12's Destin Daniel Cretton, and now she's exiting another promising film while boarding a separate one.

Lawrence, who wrote a piece today on the gender inequality in Hollywood, has now pulled out of Richard Linklater's adaptation of Love, Rosie, a film that had been set up specifically for her. The rom-com was adapted by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (The Fault In Our Stars), centering on a socially awkward scientist who comes up with a scientific formula for finding the perfect mate. Lawrence would have played the woman who turned his entire theory upside down. With Lawrence out the search for a replacement is on, but losing her is a big blow to a film largely built on her star power.

On the plus side, this frees Lawrence up to star in the next film by Darren Aronofsky (Noah), an untitled indie that he hopes to begin shooting next spring. No plot details are available but it's something Aronofsky wrote and put his full attention to after he couldn't strike a deal with New Regency on a movie about "a boy living in Staten Island whose drawings come to life."

Lawrence still has The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 2 coming up next month, and then in December she re-enters the Oscar race with David O. Russell's drama, Joy. [THR/Variety]
