Emma Stone is Back to Challenge Steve Carell in 'Battle of the Sexes'

A little confused? Here's how it goes: Emma Stone had been set to rejoin her Crazy Stupid Love co-star Steve Carell for Battle of the Sexes, a tennis film centered on the iconic match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. But then over the summer Stone dropped out and was replaced by the red-hot Brie Larson (Room), and things seemed to be ready to roll. Except that now Larson is out and, surprisingly, Stone is the one taking the court.

THR broke news of the swap, facilitated by Larson's signing on to star in Glass Castle which messed up her schedule. So now Stone is back in to play the 29-year-old King, who accepted the chauvinistic Riggs' challenge to the 1973 match. Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine) are directing with Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) writing the script and Danny Boyle producing.

So lots of talent aboard this one, and now production is gearing up to shoot early next year.
