Kodi Smit-McPhee Joins 'The Solutrean'; Andy Garcia's an 'International Assassin', Lauren Graham Enters "Middle School'


Albert Hughes (Menace II Society) has found the star of his upcoming survival epic, The Solutrean. Kodi Smit-McPhee, who will play Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse, has joined the film set during the Ice Age and centering on a survivor's quest to return to his tribe. Kevin James' Netflix comedy True Memoirs of an International Assassin has added Andy Garcia (The Godfather 3) to the cast. He'll play a Venezuelan revolutionary who presents himself as a modern-day Che Guevara. James plays a mild-mannered accountant and author who is mistaken for an elite contract killer. Genesis Rodriguez co-stars in the Jeff Wadlow-directed film which begins shooting later this month. Garcia has also landed a recurring role on HBO's Ballers opposite Dwayne Johnson. [Deadline]

James Patterson's Middle School books are headed to the big screen, and the first one has assembled a cast that includes Lauren Graham,Rob Riggle, Adam Pally, Thomas Barbusca, Andrew Daly,Efren Ramirez, Isabela Moner, and Alexa Nisenson, with Griffin Gluck set for the lead role of Rafe, who sets out to break every single rule in the Middle School rulebook. The film will be directed by Steve Parr (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) and hit theaters on October 7th 2016.
