Cate Blanchett Teams with Richard Linklater for 'Where'd You Go, Bernadette'
So we won't get to see Boyhood director Richard Linklater team up with Jennifer Lawrence on The Rosie Project, as that film fell apart some months ago. While that's obviously disappointing because they could have made for one heck of a team, Linklater has hooked another Oscar-winning actress for a different film, his developing adaptation of Maria Semple's novel, Where'd You Go, Bernadette.
According to The Wrap, Cate Blanchett is in talks to star in the film about a once-famous agoraphobic architect who suddenly vanishes, and her daughter's attempts to find her. The entire story is told through FBI documents, letters, correspondence, and more. Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter, writes of The Spectacular Now and The Fault In Our Stars, will pen the screenplay.
That's one way to bounce back. Blanchett is likely to earn yet another Oscar nomination for her performance in Todd Haynes' Carol, and could get one more for playing Mary Mapes in Truth. Linklater recently completed filming on his spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused, newly-titled Everybody Wants Some.
