Tracy Morgan is Redd Foxx in Lee Daniels' Richard Pryor Biopic

Richard Pryor forged a number of lasting relationships throughout his comedy career, and one that lasted the longest was with his mentor, Redd Foxx. As Lee Daniels continues to piece together his star-studded biopic on Pryor with Mike Epps as the legendary comedian, the role of Foxx has just been filled by Tracy Morgan.

Morgan continues his comeback from the devastating accident that sidelined him last year, joining Epps, Oprah Winfrey, Eddie Murphy, Kate Hudson, and Taraji P. Henson in the film titled Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? It was Foxx, a powerhouse on stage and star of the sitcom Sanford and Son, who gave Pryor his first big break. Their friendship would continue over the years, with Foxx starring alongside Pryor and Murphy in Harlem Nights in 1989.

In a brief statement, Morgan expressed his desire to live up to playing the comedic giant...

"Mr. Foxx, I hope I do you justice! It will be an honor to portray an icon.”
