Natalie Portman Is Jackie Kennedy In First Look at Pablo Larrain's Biopic
In the back of my mind there was hope Pablo Larrain's Jacqueline Kennedy biopic would find a way to Sundance, but unfortunately filming is still underway and will be for a while. There's a wealth of talent surrounding the film already with Larrain directing, Natalie Portman as the cherished First Lady, Darren Aronofsky as producer, and a supporting cast of Greta Gerwig, Peter Sarsgaard, and John Hurt, making it a film that seems destined for future awards attention. And now today comes the first official image of Portman as the wife of the slain President in Jackie.
Looking remarkably authentic and without needing a ton of makeup, Portman plays the First Lady in the days immediately following the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy. During those days she had to deal with the incoming President, Lyndon B. Johnson, and his staff who were eager to take over in the White House.
The screenplay by Noah Oppenheimer ended up on the Black List a few years ago,so there are credentials from top to bottom here. Look for Jackie to arrive in theaters some time next year, likely during the Oscars race.
