While the idea behind "The 12 Days of Deadpool" might have seemed like a good one on paper, in execution it turned out to be Deadpool overload. Not a whole lot was revealed about the R-rated mutant flick except to repeatedly remind us of Deadpool's irrverent peronality and fondness for bathroom humor. Not that these are bad things, and certainly Ryan Reynolds is perfectly cast as the snarky merc, but it's time to see something new. Fortunately, the new trailer offers just that.
Arriving in the middle of the night like Santa Claus coming to steal your milk and cookies, the latest red and green band trailers offer up a mix of previously seen footage and some brand new stuff. Mostly that involves Deadpool's encounters with the X-Men, Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), as they battle Gina Carano's Angel Dust character who looks like a total badass. If she can deck Colossus like that imagine what she could do to Deadpool's squishy non-metal body.
The sophomoric one-liners (the closing one about Negasonic Teenage Warhead is killer) fly at us faster than a pray of bullets and one hopes the best jokes aren't being wasted in the trailer. Because as it stands right now Deadpool looks like the superhero movie to beat next year.
