Trailer For 'Desierto' Has Jeffrey Dean Morgan Hunting Gael Garcia Bernal

The cat and mouse thriller Desierto marks the feature directorial debut for Jonas Cuaron, the son of Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron. And as you might anticipate, the expectations are pretty high as a result. Jonas directed the short film that tied-in to Gravity, and that was extremely well done, and it looks like his first big screen effort will make quite a big impression.

Starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the film centers on a Mexican migrant being pursued throughout the southwest by an American with a fondness for gunning down border crossers. It looks like a fairly on-the-nose thriller in some ways, but given the hot-button issue of illegal immigration going on right now expect it have something worthwhile to say on the topic.  Here's the official synopsis:

From Jonás Cuarón and Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed filmmakers of Gravity, comes a unique, modern vision of terror.  Desierto is a visceral, heart-pounding suspense-thriller packed with tension and suspense from start to finish, starring Gael García Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mamá También) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen). What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border.  In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer.

Desierto opens on March 4th 2016.
