2016 Razzie Awards Nominations Dishonor 'Pixels', 'Fifty Shades of Grey', And More

The annual dishonoring of the year's worst in cinema is upon us once again. No, not the Academy Awards whose nominations will be announced tomorrow morning, but the infamous Golden Raspberries aka The Razzies. And if you figured that soft targets such as Fantastic Four, Fifty Shades of Grey, and Pixels would figure heavily among the choices, you'd be absolutely right.

Pixels, Fifty Shades of Grey, Fantastic Four, Jupiter Ascending, and Paul Blart 2 all took nominations for Worst Picture. We can argue about whether any of those movies truly deserve to be there, but the Razzies are about making fun of the easiest targets available, the ones that society mostly agrees with them on. So there's nothing controversial in any of their choices.  Johnny Depp up for Worst Actor for Mortdecai? Who is going to argue with that?  Although it's a little interesting to see Rooney Mara in the Worst Supporting Actress category for Pan when she's likely to get an Oscar nomination tomorrow for Carol. Hey, they can't all be gems.  Honesly, Adam Sandler pretty much has permanent real estate in the Worst Actor category as he's there every single year. This time it's for both Pixels and The Cobbler since The Ridiculous 6 doesn't qualify.

On the plus side, Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2), M. Night Shyamalan (The Visit), Sylvester Stallone (Creed), and Will Smith (Concussion) had bounce back years, earning them nods in the Razzies Redeemer category.
