Alexander Skarsgard Tells 'Big Little Lies', Mackenzie Davis Leads 'Izzy', Alison Pill Joins 'Miss Sloane'

The amount of talent Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are putting together for HBO's Big Little Lies is extraordinary, and only getting better. Alexander Skarsgard, no stranger to the network since his breakthrough was in True Blood, has joined the limited series. Jean-Marc Vallee (Wild, Dallas Buyers Club) is directing from David E. Kelley's adaptation of Liane Moriarty acclaimed novel about three mothers of kindergarten-aged children whose lives spiral out of control dangerously. Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Adam Scott are also part of the cast. Skarsgard will play the husband to Kidman's character. [TVLine]

The awesome Mackenzie Davis (The Martian, Breathe In) is set to lead Izzy Gets the F–k Across Town, an indie (No kidding!!) written and directed by Christian Papierniak. The cast around her is pretty great with Carrie Coon, Sarah Goldberg, Rob Huebel, Brandon T. Jackson, Luka Jones, Kyle Kinane, Haley Joel Osment, Alex Russell, Alia Shawkat, Keith Stanfield, Dolly Wells and newcomer Bobby Lamont joining her. Davis plays a woman who sets out across Los Angeles to crash her ex-boyfriend's engagement party. [Variety]

Jessica Chastain is being joined in the gun control drama Miss Sloane by The Newsroom's Alison Pill. John Madden is directing the film centered on a lobbyist's efforts to pass stricter federal gun regulations. So yeah, this one is bound to piss a few people off.  Pill can be seen later this year in the Coen Brothers' Hail Caesar! and reprising her role as Eva Glatt in Goon: Last of the Enforcers. [Variety]
