First Trailer For 'The Conjuring 2' Takes The Haunting To England

So many horror movies claim to be based on a true story that it's tough to take any of them seriously, But few films have quite the level of authenticity as James Wan's The Conjuring, which was based on the case files of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), one of whom is still alive and kickin'. The film was a hit, arguably Wan's most atmospheric and creepy yet, and now he's back with The Conjuring 2 which takes the Warrens across the pond to England.

Wilson and Farmiga are back as the ghost hunting team who are sent to investigate paranormal activity affecting the Hodgson family. The case became known as the "Enfield Poltergeist" and has been dramatized on TV and film numerous times, although skepticism remains about the veracity of the claims. Franka Potente (Run Lola Run), Simon McBurney (The Theory of Everything), and Frances O'Connor (Timeline) play some of the actual people involved in the haunting.

Wan spoke to EW about the reason this case was chosen for the film, stating “The haunting that afflicted the Hodgson family is probably one of the most documented paranormal cases in the world."

The Conjuring 2 haunts theaters on June 10th.
