Mark Ruffalo Teases Cate Blanchett's 'Thor: Ragnarok' Role
Marvel has done a pretty good job landing big names to don silly superhero costumes, but they scored a major coup when Cate Blanchett began talks to join Thor: Ragnarok. While it would be pretty amazing for the Carol star, who could be looking at another Oscar for her performance in that film, to play the female version of Thor it's expected that she'll be the villain. Certainly that's what Mark Ruffalo thinks, and he showed his enthusiasm for the idea while talking to ET at the BAFTA Awards last weekend...
"I'm so thrilled. I saw her at the Governors’ banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, ‘Please, please, please make this work! She’s just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting."
So is this confirmation that she'll definitely be battling Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk in their cosmic team-up? Not really, but it stands to reason he knows more about her role than has been reported. Chances are she would be playing either the Enchantress or Hela, both frequent Thor foes.
Thor: Ragnarok opens November 3rd 2017.
