The Joker Shows His Toys In The New 'Suicide Squad' Trailer

Last summer the first footage from Suicide Squad was unveiled in front of the rabid Comic-Con crowd, and it arguably went over much better than anything seen of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In a way, it's a lot like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The cast from top-to-bottom is stacked, the team is comprised of dangerous loners as likely to kill one another than work together, and it operated well outside of the heroic standard set by likes of Superman, Batman, Wonder, and others in the Justice League.

Warner Bros. clearly knows they have a potential monster hit on their hands, and tonight they rolled out the first official trailer for the film, showing off its madcap style and offbeat comic energy. Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbage, and Adam Beach star as the villainous team, who are tasked by government liaison Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) to take on deadly missions they aren't expected to survive. But we also see plenty of Jared Leto as The Joker, which is why Ben Affleck's Batman is making a cameo. The real scene-stealer looks to be Robbie as the totally psychotic Harley Quinn. We may be talking about her as having upstaged everyone when all is said and done.

Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad opens August 5th.
