Billy Crudup In Talks For 'Alien: Covenant' And Joins Natalie Portman For 'Jackie' Biopic

Filming on Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant begins next month, and we've seen a flurry of casting announcements as a result. Just hours after there were four new additions to the ensemble, Deadline reports that Billy Crudup is also in talks for a role in the sci-fi prequel. But not only that, but Crudup has landed a dramatic role in Pablo Larrain's Jackie Onassis biopic.

Crudup, who was last seen in Tom McCarthy's Best Picture-nominated Spotlight, is negotiating for a key role in Scott's follow-up to Prometheus.  He'll be joining Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, and the newly-cast Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, Demian Bichir, and Amy Seimetz. The film takes place about ten years after Prometheus, and is part of a trilogy that sets up Scott's classic, Alien.

Meanwhile, Crudup has also joined the cast of Jackie, which stars Natalie Portman as former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Darren Aronofsky is on board to produce the film with Greta Gerwig co-starring,  and the story follows Onassis after the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy.

Crudup's roles in both films remain a mystery, but he's always a good addition to any cast. Alien: Covenant opens October 6th 2017.
