J.K. Simmons Races To 'Patriots Day' With Mark Wahlberg

While there are a couple of movies on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing on the way, the one that's speeding along fastest is Patriots Day. It will mark the latest collaboration between Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon), and now the film boasts an Oscar winner as J.K. Simmons has joined the cast.

Simmons will play real-life cop Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese of the Watertown Police Department who was key in the manhunt and firefight that took down terrorist bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Wahlberg plays a member of the Boston Police Department who was also integral to the investigation.

Simmons can be heard in Disney's Zootopia starting next week. He's got more than half a dozen other films due out in 2016, including a reunion with Whiplash director Damien Chazelle for La La Land.  Production on Patriots Day begins this fall.
