The first time Pierce Brosnan and director Martin Campbell teamed up the result was Goldeneye, the most popular James Bond film of the actor's run. They're currently working together again on the action flick, The Foreigner, which stars Jackie Chan. And obviously they want to keep that relationship going because Campbell and Brosnan are teaming up once more on an adaptation of a book by cherished author, Ernest Hemingway.
Brosnan will star in an adaptation of Hemingway's 1950 novel, Across the River and Into the Trees, which Campbell will direct. This will mark a change of pace for the duo as the story is an intimate one, lacking in secret government organizations and plots to rule the world. Penned by Peter Flannery and Michael Radford, the story is set in post-WWII Venice and follows an American soldier who learns he's suffering from a terminal illness. While he's determined to live out the rest of his life in isolation, he falls in love with an Italian woman who gives him a reason to fight.
Assuming all goes well with The Foreigner, Brosnan and Campbell should be ready to shoot this October. [THR]
