The Avengers Are Split In The 'Captain America: Civil War' Super Bowl Spot

So which team will you be rooting for? Oh, you thought I meant the Carolina Panthers or Denver Broncos in tonight's Super Bowl? Not hardly, not when Marvel's Captain America: Civil War pits the Earth Mightiest Heroes against one another in a showdown with more at stake than just a trophy.

The new Super Bowl spot cleverly ties in hype for the big game while highlighting the rivalry that has split the Avengers into opposing teams. One side is led by Captain America (Chris Evans), the other led by Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), with both bringing some new heroes into the mix, such as Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

Here's the official synopsis:

"Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability."

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th.
